The students were said to have been hit by the vehicle in an attempt to cross the Lagos/Benin Expressway which is directly in front of the school gate.
One of the girls, identified as a 200 level Philosophy student, Halima Rita, died from injuries sustained, as seen in the photo. However, the other student, whose name is yet to be identified, is in a terrible condition, at a hospital in the State. It is believed, at the time of the report, that she is battling with internal bleeding.
Students of the University who are saddened, had on Monday, trooped out in mass to protest against the death of Rita.
They called on the school’s attention and the State government to please provide speed bumps and flyover to prevent such sad and painful reoccurrence of avoidable premature death of students.
